bye-bye. anyway. right now on news channel 8 first at 4:00. now four headlines at 4:00, number one, halloween weather, here's a live look outside. we're going to show you the forecast in less than a minute. number two presidential politics as deat investigation into her emails, republican vp nominee, mike pence campaigns in the bay area. number three, guns and clowns, local law enforcement is concerned about parents carrying real weapons while trick or treating. and number four, fire ball, find out what's lighting up the sky on this spooky day, happy halloween, i'm josh benson, and i'm stacie schaible. this is first at 4:00. now to breaking news at this

winter haven. we want to go straight to eagle 8 reporter, paul, he has the latest. let me get right to it. here's the plane. it's a cessna. and the pilot is okay. i want to point that out first. a couple things you can see from this. it's out in a field. you can see the front part of the wing has damage to it. we're not sure why. and the front wheels are down. and the plane did grind through the ground and the pilot was able to get out wide. take a look at this. here's the track of the plane. at some point, the plane had some kind of trouble, made it down on to the field. you can see the path that the wheels took and eventually hit the ground here spinning to the side. the pilot is okay, that's the good news, and now they're going to try to figure out what exactly happened to this plane to have him land in this field or crash in the feel. however you'd want to call it. but right now we know the pilot is okay. and we will have more

available, in eagle 8 hd, news channel 8. thanks paul. right now we're going to get your trick or treat forecast. because it is that night, right julie? yes, and things look great for this halloween, kiddos i'm sure will enjoy this forecast. take a look at the lake club in lakewood ranch. 83 degrees out of the east between 5 to 10 miles per hour. no rain at this location. beautiful blue skies. it's going to stay this nice all the way through the trick or treating hour. out. maybe around 5:00 or so. temperatures will still be quite warm. in the mid 80s. for any of those heavy costumes, that may be toasty. this will be a nice light breeze. calm by 8:00 p.m., temperatures in the upper 70s. a very pleasant night for the kids heading out. temperatures at this point. sitting in the mid 70s across the board. we're looking at above average temperatures this halloween.

week from tomorrow. and the presidential candidates are focusing their attention right here in florida. indiana governor mike pence trump's pick for vice president is holding a rally at the st. petersburg clear water international airport in a couple hours. peter bernard is there with a preview. republican supporters are lining up early for the mike pence rally inside this aircraft hanger which will occur later on. the visit comes days after the fbi director revealed there maybe more warrant scrutiny. hats, t-shirts, buttons, and more, political swag for sale outside the venue where mike pence will speak. people waiting to get in tell me they want to see a change. >> he's going to get obama care taken care of. he's going to do so many things in his first 100 days. and i couldn't be more excited about it. >> he's defending trump donald trump's about face on the criticism of james comey.

leadership. donald trump is predicting a victory in the race. people i talk to hit on trump's platforms. >> we support mr. trump because of what's going on in washington. basically we've been very unhappy with the way the establishment and the leaders are running the country. and we feel this is time for change. >> pence himself says there's tremendous momentum in the campaign. we intend to have a live report when he takes to the podium. peter bernard, news channe area to win florida's 29 electoral votes. hillsborough county is florida's battle ground county. the vote correctly predicted the winner in 19 of the last 20 presidential elections. and today news channel 8's meredith shows us why this part of the state is so critical. >> hillsborough county's balance of registered democrats, republican, and independents makes it one to watch. brand new numbers out today

than 240,000 votes have been cast in early voting and by mail. so far, ability 15,000 more registered democrats have voted than registered republicans. of course we don't know how they voted. but every vote could ultimately help decide who our next president will be. >> the entire election in 2000 was settled by 547 votes here in florida decided who was president of the united states for the next about the candidates could be the reason why one or the other walks away with a one. and that is why you'll see a lot of clinton, trump, and their sarasota ghats here in hillsborough -- surrogates here in hillsborough county for the next week and a half. it's not just hillsborough that's important to trump and clinton. it's the entire i-4 corridor

right now a three-year-old hudson boy is recovering at all children's hospital in downtown st. petersburg. there were some scary moments for his mom and dad as their little boy was air lifted to the er after a large television fell on him. according to family and friends, the boy and his brother were playing and accidentally knocked an older model tv off the dresser. it fell on the toddler and when paramedics arrived, the boy was

world's most powerful radar and your storm team 8 forecast with meteorologist julie phillips. a gorgeous halloween this year. beautiful blue skies out in sun city center. 84 degrees. so it's a warm afternoon. but a nice one. not a cloud in sight. some dryer air has rolled in. we're not going to be dealing with any rain at all for tonight. at 9:00 p.m. we'll just have a nice light breeze around, mostly clear skies. temperatures sitting in the mid 70s. when you wake up tomorrow, we'll begin the day with maybe a little our northern areas, we saw some of that this morning. temperatures in the upper 60s as we head into the afternoon hours, we'll top out in the upper 80s, it's going to be another warm day tomorrow. temperatures well above average. so far this october, it's been a little bit dryer than normal. you're probably thinking it's been a while since you've seen rain at your house. in an average october we've seen 2.26 inches. it's all ready a dryer month. this month we'll only pick up

us for this time of the year. on radar right now, completely quiet across the state of florida. the only thing we're watching is some clouds. and a little bit of moisture as you head toward key west, besides that though, all is looking quiet at the moment. and expect it to stay that way. it's just warm. 86 in tampa. 85 in zephyr hims. 85 in we points in the 50s and low 60s. it just makes it feel a lot more comfortable outside. even with the warmer temperatures. outside right now. clear skies for the rest of halloween. it's going to stay warm as well. when you wake up tomorrow morning, comfortable temps, a little patchy fog in the northern area, as we head into the afternoon hours, it's going to stay dry, a little breezy,

then on wednesday we see a little change. a weak disturbance rolls through. and an isolated shower is possible wednesday morning and wednesday afternoon. most of us probably are going to stay dry again. there's that small, small chance we could see an isolated shower pop up on wednesday. so do keep that in mind. our temperatures are going to stay warm the next few days. notice we are well above average. average for this time of the year, 81 degrees. but we're tracking our next cold front. set to arrive on friday. and it should be a nice back into the mid to upper 70s. and we have great timing with this front as well. it's right before the weekend. as we head into next weekend, it's going to look really nice. double thumbs up from our emoji man. rain chances looking small if you're hoping to see rain at your house, not that likely with this front. you may see a passing shower. but the rain chances aren't huge. of course it's still hurricane season. it runs until november 30th.

the next five days. so quiet there. and on our eight-day forecast. it stays mostly dry. tomorrow, small rain chances wednesday and thursday. a few showers with the front on friday. as we head into the weekend, can you believe it? it's all ready time to fall back. set the clocks back saturday night into sunday. gorgeous weekend ahead. then of course it's halloween. we have video to show you from saint joseph's children's hospital. they held a trick or treat parade today. this is for the kids that were a little too si great they were able to do that. don't they look cute. especially when you have one that was extra cute dressed as a flamingo. but they all look great. i'm sure having a great time. halloween is a fun time. i'm glad they brought the kids that aren't able to go trick or treating. >> they deserve that. absolutely. thanks so much. a first at 4:00 consumer watch. we're going to talk about haunted realestate. a potentially haunted house known as stigmatized property.

if anything scary happened in the house unless it effected your property value. however, in one famous new york case a couple was able to get their money back, the court found that whether or not ghosts are real, the fact that the house had been widely reported as haunted effected the value. halloween makeup can be expensive and time consuming to put on. but it doesn't have to be that way. there's so halloween maup using things you have at home. >> if you still don't have a costume, don't worry, we're going to show you how to create a spooky and simple look. when it comes to halloween, you'd be hard pressed to find a creature more terrifying than a zombie. piling on tons of makeup to get that scary look can break the bank. but makeup artist michael kate believes it doesn't have to. >> there's a lot of household products you can use and save a

gardens hallow scream. and he's sharing some of his tricks and treats. >> usually zombies are pounding on things. whether it be doors, or people's heads. >> combing some conditioner through dry hair can give dressed up zombies that undead, unwashed hair look and petroleum jelly and flour can be used to make a fake wound. >> a lot of people buy this. it's a little expensive. let's say you wanted a cut, a long gash, you can run like that. and immediately you can see that. it can become a cut of some sort. >> a popular breakfast food can serve another purpose in the zombie world. >> oatmeal is great for texturing, mix that with some latex. lay it on the skin or the arm and it immediately makes the arm or the face look very dirty. >> after a quick lesson in halloween hacks, it was time for me to give the zombie look a trial run before trick or treating. >> this all ready looks scary

looking at 650,000 newly discovered clinton emails but her running mate believes the fbi's reopened investigation is actually in his words, jacked up enthusiasm for the campaign. tim kaine mentioned the fbi probe during a gathering with military families near camp lejeune today. he claims that the campaign will not be distracted and in fact is seeing more energy and activity. number three, the republican vp nominee is scheduled to county in an hour, he'll be speaking at saint pete clear water airport around 6:00 tonight, there he is, mike pence, we have a crew there waiting for his arrival. donald trump is campaigning in some traditionally democratic states. here he is in michigan at the first of two rallies there today. tomorrow he'll appear with his running mate in wisconsin, which that state hasn't voted for a republican president since ronald reagan's reelection in 1984.

november 8th. a law enforcement source says the laptop has 650,000 emails she says she did not know they were on it. the probe began last night. agents with a warrant using software tools to isolate clinton-related state department emails and determine how many are duplicates, how many are new, and if any have classified content. president obama today gave the head of the fbi a pass. >> the confident that director comey has not taken steps to try to intentionally influence the outcome of the election. >> if clinton wins, she could be put on trial, sparking a constitutional crisis. steve handelsman, nbc news, washington. you may have seen the ad about pot-laced candy. people opposed to medical marijuana and the amendment in florida are using the ad to warn about the dangers of passing the measure.

the ad a scar tactic. backers of amendment 2 claim there's very little chance you'll ever find pot-laced candy in your child's halloween collection. >> there is no credible danger or credible threat of cannabis edibles winding up in your kid's halloween candy now nor ever. >> the backers of that amendment number two, medical marijuana in florida today marijuana is legal for recreational purposes, there are no reported cases of pot candy being handed out for halloween. millions are getting out getting ready to vote early, what does that mean for the election? >> with just eight days to go, mobilizing voters and getting them to the poles is key. and at universities across the state today, students were encouraged not to boo but to

in south tampa. beautiful blue skies this afternoon. that's what we're seeing across the board. 84 degrees currently. along with the beautiful blue skies it's been fairly warm. winds light out of the northeast around 5 miles per hour. from downtown tampa, 86 degrees. you can see a nice view from our camera there. dew points sitting in the upper 50s. so yeah, it's definitely a little bit dryer than it has been. it feels a little bit more comfortable despite the warm temperatures. for trick pretty comfortable, if you're headed out earlier, maybe warmer. but for the most part, upper 70s to low 80s through the evening hours. a nice light breeze. and over all it's been a warm october for us. we'll go down the record books as the eighth warmest october for tampa. the average temperature, 78.2 degrees. and last october was a warm one as well. we're starting to get used to that. we'll have more on your full workweek forecast, coming up in a few minutes.

important to protect them from mosquitoes. officials statewide are taking precautions to ensure that the zika virus doesn't spread as children take to the streets tonight. news channel 8's john rogers explains. >> good afternoon, officials say that mosquitoes are most active at dusk which is right around the time that these trick or treaters will be going door to door. sarasota county officials stress that the zika virus has not been detected among mosquitoes locally. but there have been some residents who caught the virus disease, officials have been doing careful monitoring and testing. they're also providing free repellant and resources to help residents get rid of these parkway these -- pests. >> i think it's like anything, there's always risks. you can be as smart as you can and that's all you can do. reporting in sarasota, john rogers, news channel 8.

retiring from special ops something never been offered before. and my coanchor, jen holloway joins us live from our tampa news center. >> there are a lot of groups offering veterans support in a lot of ways, health care, homes, transportation, etcetera. but this group is doing something that no one has ever done before. they're giving veterans and their spouses something completely different. a special get away. not just for members of ops. but their spouses as well. >> to spend time together. be around other spouses that have similar experiences of being injured and what it's like getting those type of phone calls. it really meant a lot. there was a lot of healing going on for everyone. >> now this has never been done before in the united states. and i'll have the full story, tonight at 11:00 about this organization that started right here in tampa bay.

candy, glad we have a nice forecast for you. another view with beautiful blue skies. i've yet to see a cloud ott this hour. we're seeing warm temperatures at 84 in venice this afternoon. winds coming in out of the east/southeast between 5 to 10 miles per hour. and leading our headlines are the warm days we've been seeing. and above average temperatures continue for the start of the workweek. but we're tracking a cold front that arrives rain with the front. the big impacts will be tempt as we head into the weekend. temperatures drop back, we're looking at highs in the 70s next weekend. really shaping up nicely. waking up tomorrow morning, we'll begin the day in the upper 60s. and we'll top out in the upper 80s tomorrow afternoon. so going to be toasty, temperatures running well above average. we'll start to see some changes we the end of the week. 85 in apollo beach.

crystal river. temperatures are warm. but it's probably not feeling as sticky as this weekend was. we had a surge of dry air that rolled in. the water vapor imagery, that bright orange color is dry air sitting on top of us. that's why even though the temperatures are warm, the humidity is quite low at this point, probably still feeling fairly nice. for the rest of this evening, not too spooky this halloween, going to stay great. mostly clear skies. winds ease up. when you we had fog this morning. pasco, citrus, hernando, we could see more tomorrow morning. most of us looking okay. by the afternoon hours, mostly sunny skies, back many the upper 80s, on wednesday, we see a weak disturbance roll through. we bring in a small chance on wednesday. calling for a 10% chance of rain at this point. with the front on friday, we'll only bring the rain chances up to 20%. we fall back this weekend all
